Leather Weather: New Ways To Wear This Classic

One thing I love about fashion is how old trends are constantly reinvented in new and exciting ways, and leather is no exception. Leather is a timeless material that will always be in style no matter the season, but this is especially true during colder weather. And while I love my classic leather jacket – I basically live in it - here are a few new ways to wear this fun fabric.

THE LEATHER SKIRT

A basic leather skirt is not technically new, but the way Jessie wears hers is so modern! A baggy shirt hanging out of the bottom of your skirt is not for the faint of heart, but it's not as unattainable as it may first seem. The trick is to purchase a white dress instead of a shirt so that you have the length without the added bulkiness. If you aren't sure about this look, try a tight leather mini skirt with an oversized white blouse tucked in to give a similar effect.

LEATHER PLEATS

Pleats are a current obsession of mine. If you're more on the retro side of style, this look will be right your alley. I've been wearing mine with a cozy fur vest and some chunky boots, similar to Alex’s outfit below. The best part of this piece: the flowy pleats help hide the extra Christmas cookies I ate this past December ;)

LEATHER PANTS

A great pair of leather leggings or skinny jeans will always be a part of my repertoire, but I am loving the variations in leather pants that are currently in style. As mentioned above, all the sweet treats I consumed over the holidays have left me longing for some loose-fitting clothing, and a pair of drop-waist, baggy leather pants are just what I need. THE LEATHER DRESS

The leather dress is very minimalist and feminine this season with loose silhouettes and basic features. The key to making sure this look doesn’t step on the verge of boring is to accessorize it appropriately. Courtney's shoes, sunglasses and scarf-wrapped handbag bring an extra level of chic that Jackie O would envy!
