Style Guide: How To Improve Your Wardrobe With These 4 Easy Clothing Swaps

Do you often find yourself staring in front of your closet feeling completely lost? Day in and day out you look at the same rack of clothes, and yet you have no clue what the heck to wear! I think we could all use a little wardrobe makeover from time to time, but the main problem with a complete closet overhaul is the costs involved - not to mention the time it takes.

I don't know about you, but money and time are not two resources that I have in endless supply, and so if you want to revamp your wardrobe, you need to be a little clever about it. So for today, consider me your little makeover fairy, as I've come up with four easy clothing swaps that will help improve your wardrobe and personal style all while keeping your bank account in check.

Wardrobe Makeover Swap 1: Pick Pleated Over Your Pencil Midi-Skirt

Pencil midi skirts will always have their time and place, but why not mix things up a bit and go for a pleated version of this classic staple instead? Ultra-flattering with their looser fit, this cut looks fantastic dressed both up or down making it that much more coveted if you are looking for a versatile piece. You can even pull off sneakers with this look - yes sneakers!

If you are a little self-conscious of your lower half, pick a darker color or go for pastel if you want to be ahead of the trend. I love how Thenia paired her feminine pink skirt with a more casual grey top and grey classic tote, which are pieces you most likely already have in your closet. In terms of changing up your style, this is as easy as it gets!

Wardrobe Makeover Swap 2: Head-To-Toe Navy Versus All-Black

We know that all-black is a personal favorite of mine, but if you're wondering how to freshen up and further develop your own style, it's all about testing the waters and changing the rules a bit. So why not go head-to-toe navy instead? You get the same flattering silhouette, the same level of chicness, and the slightly brighter tone of navy is surprisingly easier for most to pull off versus black. Plus, you'll be admired for being a little more fashion-forward and rebellious. Just take a cue from Michelle below - Atlanta's original Rebel (in Prada)!

Wardrobe Makeover Swap 3: Replace Gingham With Stripes

There's no denying that gingham is a classic wardrobe staple (especially here in the South), but when you want to change up your style we say opt for stripes instead! We suggest staying away from a horizontal pattern which can visually add volume. Go for vertical or diagonal stripes instead and you will appear taller, slimmer and feel super confident as well. Julie's dress is perfectly balanced and her look will take her from day to evening with ease.

Wardrobe Makeover Swap 4: Millennial Pink Instead of Pale Blue

Pink makes the boys wink ;) Maybe so, but pink also looks fresh and feminine compared to the usual pale blue hue we are often drawn to. And if you're wondering what exactly qualifies as "millennial" pink, it has evolved over time to include quite a wide range of hues but it's basically a toned-down version of your barbie-doll pink.

Easy to pair with just about any shade of denim, blouses, sweaters and even jackets in this fresh hue are not only easy to style but will also perfectly transition with you from winter to spring. Odds are you already have something in your closet in this color family, so the next time you're feeling like you have "nothing to wear" grab your pink and get to styling!.
