Style Guide: How Pajamas Can Actually Help Improve Your Sleep And Health

Sleep is a wonderful thing, and it is in fact one of my favorite pastimes! We all live such busy lives these days that it's vital we get a good eight hours or so every evening to allow our bodies to fully rest and recover. The problem is, those busy lives we lead also make it difficult to switch off at the end of the day often resulting in restless and uneasy nights. 

Do you have trouble getting to sleep at night? If you do, you're certainly not in the minority. Our daily stresses, as well as too much stimulation from cell phones, TV, social media, etc. make it difficult to turn off and allow our bodies to drift away for a few hours. But there are things we can do to relax, and surprisingly the right pajamas can actually help!

So if you need help getting a restful night's sleep, it could simply be that you are wearing the wrong clothes to bed. Here's are some interesting facts to consider... 

Sleeping Tip: Pajamas Tell Your Body It Is Time For Rest 

When you put on your pajamas, it's like you are sending a signal to your brain that it's time to close your eyes and rest. Serious sleep problems can occur when our brain just can't find that wind-down switch, and the right pajamas can be the just the simple fix you need. 

As far as what fabric or style of pajamas to wear is a matter of personal preference, but as an easy standard opt for fabrics that are non-irritating, soft and cooling. While sexy lingerie definitely has its place, in the case of getting good shut eye opt for styles that are a looser fit instead.

Sleeping Tip: Pajamas Help Support Better Shut-Eye

A quality pair of pajamas not only keep you cozy, but they also help maintain a comfortable body temperature throughout the night. Think of the times when you have woken up either freezing cold, scrambling for more cover or burning up and sweating through your sheets.

Once you are up, it's a whole new struggle to shut back off leaving us tossing and turning thinking about all we have to do the next morning. The right pair of pjs - whatever that might be for your personal situation - is therefore vital in initiating and staying asleep!

Sleeping Tip: Focus On Fabric, Your Comfort is Key

When selecting pajamas, it's all about the right fabric and that needs to center around what is comfortable for you. So, if you don't particularly favor the slippery effect of satin, then don't wear it; if you love fleece go for it, or if you find this fabric a bit too thick opt for cotton instead. It may take a few trial runs, but it will be well worth the sleep once you find what works best for you.

My personal favorite - bamboo! This fabric feels soft and silky on the skin, is moisture-wicking to help regulate body temperature, is hypoallergenic AND 100% biodegradable. What's not to love about this fab fabric!

Sleeping Tip: Don't Forget About Your Feet

Last, but certainly not least don't forget about your feet! This is again all about personal preference - whether you prefer your toes covered or not - but I know I simply can't get to sleep when my feet are cold. So invest in some comfortable socks, even if you only wear them at the start of your evening, and don't be shy to add a little flair to your pair!
