Style Guide: Try These 4 Trends For A Taste Of Fall

Fall is finally upon us! The leaves are changing color, there is a definite chill in the air and the shops are suddenly reminding us that holiday season isn't too far away.

While the golden hues of fall may be wonderful to see, it is notoriously a difficult time for daily dressing. One day it's warm, the next it's cold, and the forecast puts a further damper on your style with slight chances of cool rain. Your favorite over-the-knee boots and hooded coat are dying to make an appearance, yet it's still not quite cold enough to bring them out. Thankfully, I have some tasty trends for you to try that will help you transition into the cooler months with ease!

Bell Sleeves

Bell sleeves are back with a bang, and the great news is they can be either dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. Pair with jeans for an off-duty look, or dress them up with a skirt or black skinnies for evening. Throw on some boots and you will have a truly glam look to rock when the chill starts to permeate the air.

A Warm Blazer

Who doesn't love a good blazer? You can throw it on over jeans and a t-shirt, a dress or skirt. A blazer is a real wardrobe staple, and a very versatile one at that. Go for a slightly thicker fabric to give you that warmth you will need during fall evenings when the temperatures start to slightly drop. And while I would usually suggest a made-to-measure, fitted cut, in this case go slightly larger to accommodate your cool-weather layering needs.

Camo Print

Here's your badge of approval to give this fun print a try! One of the most flexible and timeless prints around, camo easily pairs with your solid neutrals such as black, white, grey or navy blue. But for you more daring fashionistas, try combining prints like plaid and camo, always keeping within the same color family so as to not go over-the-top. We love Monica's polished look below as inspiration!

The Perfect Fall Dress

Warm afternoons and chilly evenings require that you dress for both occasions! When you want to get dressed up a bit, opt for sleeves and a knee or midi-length dress like this striped shirt dress by Guild Prime. The lighter fabric will ensure you aren't sweating in the afternoon heat and when the sun starts to set, simply grab the warm blazer referenced above.

Fall might be a difficult time as far as getting dressed goes, but it also means we can be a bit more creative in how we pair the newest trends with our closet staples.

As fall progresses, that of course means the beginning of the holiday season and party prepping for most of us. Whether you are planning your own soiree or simply RSVPing yes, you'll want to tune in next week when I'm going to be showing you how to be the hostess with the mostess!
