From your dream job interview to a casual outing with friends, a black skirt should be your go-to when you are in need of a quick yet chic outfit.
One of the biggest advantages of a black skirt is that it will literally never go out of style, but that doesn't mean that all skirts are created equal. Here are 4 ways to freshen up your closet staple...
BLACK PENCIL SKIRT
Known as a work-week staple, the pencil skirt has quite the conservative reputation but I think it's time to change that way of thinking. A tight pencil skirt creates a gorgeous, hour-glass figure and can be quite sensual!
The only downside of the pencil skirt is that the length can be tricky. Choose the wrong size and it can make you look shorter. My tip is to choose a skirt that reaches just above your knees, and wear it with the highest heels you own. As a way to update this office classic, wear an un-tucked sheer top and bralette over a leather pencil skirt. I'm getting major outfit inspo from Lisa's chic, all-black look!

A-LINE BLACK SKIRT
An A-line skirt flatters any figure, and to me creates one of the chicest silhouettes. My favorite way to wear an A-line skirt to the office is with chunky heels and a tight top, but for summer's funnest activities try pairing it with a short crop-top tee and trendy accessories. Take note from Nicole, and show off your toned abs with a peak of sun-kissed skin!

PLEATED BLACK SKIRT
Mini, midi or maxi, the pleated skirt is a huge designer favorite this season, and it absolutely must find it's way into your wardrobe. When wearing a midi-length, it's important to balance out the proportions of your body to avoid looking shorter, so I recommend a skirt that reaches mid-calf. Jane's fresh take on this mini cut is a beautiful way to accessorize this trendy skirt. I am obsessed with her fun belt and booties. They definitely complete the look!

MAXI BLACK SKIRT
If you have more of a tomboyish style and typically prefer to wear pants, then a maxi length black skirt is perfect for you. Since grunge is having a major moment, I am loving a black maxi with plaid and striped shirts. For some added glam, try a crop-top in a bold color or pattern accessorized with big jewelry.
However you choose to wear it, avoid getting swallowed by the skirt by accentuating your waist with a belt or short jacket. Jenny's look is nothing but lovely, and way cooler than the maxi skirts of years past!
